BAC Water (Bacteriostatic Water)

$220.36

Research Pathways & Profile

Bacteriostatic Water (BAC Water) supplies an analytical-grade, sterile non-pyrogenic reconstitution solvent formulated with 0.9% (9 mg/mL) benzyl alcohol USP. In biochemical and molecular research, it serves as the essential diluent for lyophilized peptides, proteins, and biochemical reagents. The benzyl alcohol bacteriostatic agent suppresses microbial and fungal proliferation across repeated vial access, allowing multi-dose laboratory aliquoting for up to 28 days under refrigerated conditions (2°C to 8°C) without compromising peptide solubility or bio-activity. Supplied strictly for laboratory research and analytical assay evaluation.

Analytical Specifications & Sequence

Solvent Formulation: Sterile Water for Injection (USP) containing 0.9% w/v Benzyl Alcohol (C7H8O, CAS: 100-51-6, Molecular Weight: 108.14 g/mol). Osmolarity: ~83 mOsmol/L. pH Range: 4.5 to 7.0. Pyrogenicity: Non-pyrogenic (<0.25 EU/mL endotoxin verified). Purity: USP Reagent Grade. Container Closure: Type I borosilicate glass vial with chlorobutyl elastomeric stopper and tamper-evident aluminum flip-off crimp seal.

Handling, Solvent & Storage Guidelines

Laboratory Reconstitution Protocol: Cleanse vial septum using a sterile 70% isopropyl alcohol prep pad prior to needle puncture. Use a sterile luer-lock syringe (27G to 30G) to draw the required volume. When reconstituting lyophilized peptide vials, aim the needle toward the inner glass wall and introduce solvent slowly, allowing it to trickle down without creating foam. Do not vortex or shake vigorously. Storage: Store sealed vials at room temperature (15°C to 30°C) shielded from direct light. Once punctured, preserve between 2°C and 8°C and utilize within 28 days. Discard if particulate matter, cloudiness, or discoloration is observed. Strictly for laboratory in-vitro investigation only.
